Project Submission Deadlines: 

  • Websites: All websites will lock for judging at 11:59 pm  March 7. Be sure to hit the “publish” button to save your final changes before this deadline.
  • Papers: Papers must be submitted electronically by 11:59 pm March 7. Upload pdf in your student profile.
  • Exhibits, Documentaries, and Performances are due at the contest on March 18.

Parking 

Parking is available in the public pay parking lot near the Shepherd Building or you can get a $3.00 parking pass at the information booth on Dixie Parkway that allows you to park all day in any W parking lot or at the Dee Events Center and take the shuttle to the Shepherd Building. There is no free on-campus parking. Students arriving by bus can be dropped off in front of the Browning Center. Buses can park at the Dee Event Center.

How to Know if Your Registration is Complete

1. Check your NHD Student Account.

  • Login to the correct contest with your NHD username and password. Find the Login button at the top right of this page. After you login, your name will appear there.
  • Click on the Students Main tab.
  • Look for two banners at the top that say Account Created and Waivers Accepted.

2. Your teacher can check their MY STUDENTS list. A "thumbs up" by your name means that your registration is complete.

3. Check your email account for a Registration Complete email from NoReply@zfairs.com. It might be in your spam folder. This message is sent only to the student's email.

Your Student Account Lasts All Year

Your NHD Student Account is good for one whole contest year. Please DO NOT open a new account if you advance to the next level of competition. If you advance to State, your NHD Student Account and entry information will be transferred automatically to the State contest. 

You can access your NHD Student Account at any time to update the information we have about your project.

Write down your username and password and keep them in a safe place. You'll need them to access your NHD Student Account throughout the year.

If you change the title of your project, you should provide the new version in your student account. Please be sure we have accurate emails for you and your parent/guardian so we can contact you if needed.

To access your NHD Student Account:

  • Login to the correct contest with your NHD username and password.
  • Click on your name.
  • Select My Profile.

Chaperone Policy

  • All students must be accompanied by an adult chaperone while at the contest.
  • Chaperones are responsible for the behavior of the students in their charge.
  • One chaperone may supervise up to 10 students. 
  • Utah History Day is not responsible for supervising minors at any time.

Student Behavior Expectations

  • Students are expected to conduct themselves, in person and online, in a manner that brings credit to themselves and their schools.
  • Treat other competitors with respect at all times.
  • Clean up your messes.
  • Pack out everything you pack in, including trash and contest supplies.
  • Do not leave exhibits or performance props behind.
  • We are guests at the contest venue and want to be invited back. 

FAQs

  • Every student will be interviewed by a judge at the contest. Students should be familar with their projects and annotated bibliographies. 
  • Parents should not be near their child during judging times.  
  • Judges' evaluation sheets will be returned to teachers. If you need to make different arrangements please contact the coordinator in advance.

What To Do If You Need to Cancel Your Registration

If you are in an Individual category and cannot attend the contest, please email the contest coordinator to cancel your registration.

If you are part of a Group entry, but other group members are attending the contest, you do not need to cancel your registration.

How to Know if Your Students Are Registered:

Use your MY STUDENTS list to a) verify your students have completed their registration, and b) make sure their project information is correct. To access your list: 

  • Login to to the correct contest using your NHD username and password. Find the Login button at the upper right of the webpage. After you login, your name will appear there.
  • Click on your name (upper right) and select My Profile.
  • Click on the MY STUDENTS tab on the top of the page.
  • A thumbs up by their name means they have completed their registration.
  • Please double check their registration for errors. Are they in the correct category? Are group entries correctly linked to a single project? Let us know if there are problems so we can help fix them.  
  • You have the power to:
    • View and edit student/entry information,
    • Link/unlink a student to an entry by clicking on the student's name.

What To Do If a Student Needs to Cancel

  • If the student is competing in an Individual category and cannot attend the contest, send an email to the contest coordinator to cancel their registration. 
  • If the student is part of a Group entry and other members of the group are attending the contest, do not cancel. With the exception of Group Performances, group projects can compete even if one student can't attend. For Exhibits, Documentaries, and Websites, at least one student from the group must attend to present the project and interview with the judges.

This NHD Contest Uses an Online System for Judging

Everyone who judges at the Weber Regional History Day contest needs to create a judging account for this contest. Your WRHD judging account is valid for judging the 2020 Weber Regional contest only. If you are judging for more than one NHD contest this year, you will register with each one separately. 

How to Create Your WRHD Judging Account: 

  1. Select Create Account above (along the top white bar of this page).
  2. Select Judge from the dropdown menu.
  3. Enter your name and email address, then verify that you are not a robot.  
  4. Provide your contact information and create a password.
  5. Answer remaining questions and agree to permissions and waivers.
  6. Write down your username and password immediately and keep in a safe place. You will need them for judging.

How to Know if Your Judge Registration is Complete

  1. You will arrive at a screen that says "Thank you [name] for your registration" and shows your username. 
  2. You will receive a Registration Completed email from NoReply@zfairs.com.  You may need to check your spam folder.
  3. Please do not create multiple judging accounts.

How to Access Your Judge Account

  1. After you have successfully created your judging account in the WRHD contest, you will access it using the LOGIN button in the upper right corner of this website.  
  2. Login with your username and password. Once logged in, your name will appear here.

Note for Teachers

If you already have a WRHD teacher account and would like to serve as a judge, please create a judging account following the instructions above. You may use the same email and password that you used for your teacher account, but you must set a different username.

After you have registered to judge at this contest, be sure to mark your calendar and we will plan on you. You will receive judging details by email.

If your availability changes and you cannot serve, notify the contest coordinator at your earliest opportunity so they can plan accordingly.  Please arrange a replacement judge to take your slot if possible.
